There are currently two crematoria in Serbia: in Belgrade and Novi Sad. The number of cremations there is about 20% among all deaths. Citizens of Montenegro, where not a single crematorium operates, very often use crematoria in the country.

Cremation of persons who did not die a natural death can only be carried out with the consent of the body responsible for initiating or conducting court proceedings.

The cremation process takes an average of 1.5 - 2 hours. The time depends on the weight of the deceased and the material the coffin is made of (wooden, ecological).
