Currently, about 70% of Dutch people choose cremation after death. Especially in large cities, this percentage is increasing year by year.

Netherlands is a country of free choices and its residents very often take advantage of this. Independent planning of one's funeral, including choosing the place of cremation, is therefore becoming increasingly popular. The cost of body cremation is approximately €900 plus additional costs.

To have a deceased person's body cremated, a complete set of documents must be submitted:

Cremation cannot take place earlier than 36 hours after death

The ashes must remain in the crematorium for a month. During this time, the closest relatives can decide what they want to do with the ashes and take action after this month expires

The coffin goes to the furnace with a refractory stone with a cremation number. This is a guarantee that no mistake will be made.

The cremation process takes an average of 1.5 - 2 hours. The time depends on the weight of the deceased and the material the coffin is made of (wooden, ecological).
